Korcula Island

Korcula is one of the largest islands in the
Adriatic. The island is known for its lush green forests and idealic secluded beaches. The historical centre is built from stone on a small peninsula between the island and mainland. The town is characterized by its fortifications, historic buildings and narrow streets and is widely considered as the birthplace of Marco Polo. This history and tradition are clear as you stroll past cultural and historical monuments in the town centre. In recent years the town has been beautifully restored and is well known among travelers looking for a relaxed holiday location. Villagers around the island are renowned olive growers, fisherman and wine producers.


Dubrovnik Region

The Dubrovnik Region is one of the most prominent tourist destinations on the
Adriatic. The Region is in the south of Croatia and features numerous islands such as Korcula, Mjlet, Hvar and Lastovo. The old town centre was initially founded in the the 7th century by Latin refugees from Epidaurus (today's Cavtats), and over the centuries the Region has been considered strategically important for defence and trade.

Todays Dubrovnik Region clearly benefits from its long history. There are beautiful examples of this history such as the popular tourist destinations of the restored old towns in
Dubrovnik, Korcula and Hvar. Other popular tourist attractions for the Region are the beaches, fishing, sailing, bushwalking and climbing.

The climate is a typical Mediterranean one. The average annual Air temperature is 16.4°C, with the average of coldest month (January) 9 °C and the average of warmest month (August) 24.9 °C. The average Sea temperature (May – September) is 17.9 °C - 23.8 °C.
